The Genesis of Begintrips – Simplifying Travel Planning for travelers's lovers

After getting married, my partner and I embarked on the thrilling adventure of planning our honeymoon. New York City was the destination of choice for our wedding night, and we were brimming with excitement. But as we delved into the details—budgeting, booking, and organizing our itinerary—we quickly realized that the logistics of planning a trip can be overwhelming.

We searched for an app that could help us manage all the tasks associated with our travel plans. We wanted a tool that could not only keep track of our expenses but also help us organize our entire journey—from flights and accommodations to daily activities and dining. However, despite scouring the app stores, we couldn’t find a solution that fully met our needs. While TripAdvisor offered a feature that allowed us to manage a few aspects of our trip, it was too simple and lacked the comprehensive functionality we were looking for.

That's when the idea for Begintrips was born. I decided to take matters into my own hands and create a web app that would cater to all our travel planning needs. The goal was to build something that wasn’t just a tool for organizing travel but a complete solution that could adapt to different types of journeys, whether it’s a honeymoon, a family vacation, or a solo adventure.

To ensure that Begintrips would be useful beyond just our personal needs, I shared the concept with a few colleagues and friends. Their feedback was invaluable in shaping the direction of the project. With their input, I started writing code for a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that included the essential features for effective travel planning.

Here’s what the first version of Begintrips includes:

• Login/Signup Page: A straightforward user authentication process to ensure that each user's data is secure and personalized.
• Onboarding: A guided setup process that asks questions about the user's journey, helping to tailor the app's features to their specific needs.
• Journey Recap Page: This is the heart of Begintrips. Users can add, delete, and update expenses, and the app organizes these by day and category, offering a clear overview of the trip's financials.
• Account Management: A dedicated page where users can update their profile or modify/delete their journeys as their plans evolve.
